Bar Events

Jazz in The Met Bar with The Jim Barber Trio

An evening of great jazz music from The Jim Barber Trio. The trio has been performing together on a regular basis for the last three years. The band consists of Jim Barber piano, Ashley Jon Long bass and Ian Poole drums. They play a combination of traditional standards mixed with more contemporary material which has been re-arranged to suit the trios’ line up and playing style. The trio has been steadily working to offer it’s music to as wide an audience as possible and have performed at many of the premier jazz venues in South Wales and the West Country

Coffee Morning Concert

Dave Arcari

Slide guitarist Dave Arcari's Blues sound owes as much to punk, country, trash and rockability as it does to pre-war Delta Blues. This year Arcari adds the legendary Glastonbury to his impressive list of festival appearances.

Workshop

Pumpkin Carving & Tales from The Wizard

Enjoy spooky tales and magic games from the Wizard of the Black Mountains, and then carve a pumpkin to take home and place in your window to keep away Hallowe'en ghosts and ghouls. Suitable for 4 to 12 year olds. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Abertillery Town Band and Harmonie de Royat

An evening concert not to be missed as the Abertillery Town Band perform with special guests from our twinned town of Royat. L'Harmonie de Royat, the Wind Band from France, together with the Town Band will perform special pieces of music that will live in your memory for a long time after this evening. Joining the concert will be the Kids R Us Mixed Choir.

25th Anniversary Concert

Abertillery Youth Drama and Music Society present a special 25th Anniversary Concert, featuring the talented youngsters of this society as they perform dance routines and songs from the last 25 years of musical youth in Abertillery.

The Dance Faktry Winter Dance Festival

The dance faktry Winter dance festival returns to The Met for the third year. Dance company in residence Ffin Dance, runs a highly successful education and outreach department called the Dance Faktry. Ffin dance has spent a week with professional dancers from all over the country creating the final dance for this evening's performance. Also performing are the community groups with which the dance faktry work throughout the year.

Christmas Craft Fair

Come along to The Met today and start your Christmas shopping. You are sure to find some unusual gifts from our craft stall holders. Children may like to take part in special workshops and even pay a visit to Father Christmas. Listen to Christmas carols performed by local groups and artists as you enjoy festive fayre from our cafe.

Tea Dances

We host weekly tea dances throughout the year, where you can perfect your skills at the waltz, foxtrot and other dances under the guidance of our tutor, and after your exertions – enjoy a nice cup of tea!

Dance Company in Residence

We are pleased to introduce our Dance Company in Residence – FFIN Dance. Founded by Sue Lewis in 2003, the company runs workshops to schools, colleges and community groups, as well as performing throughout the UK.
