The Wild Party is one night out you will always remember! Be amazed as dancers launch into technical risk taking and acrobatic routines. Be touched as a love duet conjures up the romance of Fred ‘n’ Ginger. Be seduced by an exquisitely sexy company. Laugh out loud at the tragic shenanigans of a failed clown. After being voted one of the best acts at the Abertillery Blues Festival 2007, Dave Arcari’s rocking Blues performance is an act not to be missed. As well as Arcari, Australian born Derrin
performs a dynamic yet stunning collection of music, which is like a melting pot of roots ingredients ranging from country Blues to Folk, while incorporating several original compositions. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to see two different styles of Blues performs at the Met this season.

Abertillery Amateur Dramatic and Musical Society presents an all singing, all dancing musical comedy that will certainly get your toes tapping. The story follows a Lawyer who tries to foreclose an old theatre, however the lawyer falls for the owner’s daughter and decides to save the building instead.

Theatr Na’nog presents: Me, A Giant!
A musical play for 5 - 7 year olds about friendship and first impressions, based on the well-known tale of Jack and the Beanstalk. When Jack plants a seed in his back garden the unlikeliest of friendship grows. He meets a giant but it’s not like the one in his storybook! After Rhys, Jack’s smelly big brother, chops down the Giant’s beanstalk the adventure begins. Can Jack help the Giant get home again and find the strength to become a hero? Along the way, Jack also meets the Troll from the Three Billy Goats Gruff and the Witch from Hansel and Gretel.

Hull Truck presents: Two
One pub; One night; Fourteen characters; Two actors. Meet our Landlord and Landlady; bitter, dysfunctional and constantly bickering. Enter the clientele; Slick-talking lethario ‘Moth’, an old woman taking a break from her ‘work’; Fred and his wife Alice - who’s never been the same since Elvis died, and Mrs Iger… “I love big men”. Amid the bustle of the busy pub, we see contrasting, but all too familiar characters portrayed; from those we joyously recognise, to those we would rather forget. Love, loneliness, crisis and conflict all play out as the pints are pulled and the night draws on.

Today we invite local schools to remember the tradition of Maypole dressing and dancing as happened in former days when Spring - time was always welcomed in this tradition. In the Museum enjoy a storytelling session on the origins of the May Crown and how it symbolised the planting and new growth of crops.

Forgotten Skills and Crafts
Once again we are pleased to welcome back our craftsmen and women who will demonstrate many traditional crafts and skills that are in danger of being forgotten in our modern age. Learn how to make Corn Dollies, hand spin wool, turn wood, and build a dry stone wall as well as many other country skills.
Combine with a visit to Abertillery and District Museum, where you will be able to view many of the original tools used in these ancient crafts.

Dance Summer School Monday
Are you aged 8–13 or 14–25? Do you wish to make new friends and learn how to dance? Then come along to our Summer School lead by professional tutors and learn exciting and dramatic moves of modern dance. There will be a showcase performance on Friday for family and friends to attend.

In readiness for Hallowe’en come along to The Met today and make your own candle to light your way on Hallowe’en. We are please to welcome Jenny- Any- Dots and her puppets back to the Met for a ghoulish and ghostly puppet show. Come along to cheer and shout for your favourites!

Combine with a visit to The Abertillery and District Museum, where children can enjoy special Christmas Stories And Poems.

I Remember One Christmas..
Memories of a Christmases from Victorian times to post World War 2, adapted into stories and tales for visiting children to participate in through Drama. Write a letter to Father Christmas for that special gift, and make a Christmas Candle to take home. This activity is especially suitable for visiting groups of School Children (Aimed at Key Stage 1. Please call for further details)

Creative Glass Workshops
Are you interested in making creative pieces from glass?
Half-Day Courses from 10.00am – 1pm. This will give you an initiation into working with glass and the skills to progress further.
Workshops on 8th March, 5th April, 7th June, 5th July, 6th September and 4th October
Full Day Courses for those with more experience, or those who have attended a half-day course. On this course you can expect to make jewellery, light catchers and a piece of stained glass.
Workshops on 10th May, 2nd August and 8th November.

Every Friday Afternoon 2pm – 4pm
We host weekly tea dances throughout the year, where you can perfect your skills at the waltz, foxtrot and other dances under the guidance of our tutor, and after your exertions – enjoy a nice cup of tea!

Belly Dancing
