Corn Dollies & Harvest Traditions

Sat 22nd September

Discover the importance of the corn dolly and how it symbolised a good harvest and a successful year to come for the farming communities of old. Story telling on Lammas traditions and harvest time throughout the day and a workshop on making your own corn dolly to take home and hang in your kitchen.

Poetry Dreams

Thu 5th October

To celebrate National Poetry Day, why not come and enjoy an exiting evening with poets Claire Syder and Anni Wilton Jones, along with a musician in the Met Bar. And if you fancy sharing your work with others there will be opportunity during an open mic session.

Pumpkins & Puppets

Sat 27th October

With All Hallows Eve approaching – we are hosting a weekend of Spooky Puppet Shows at the Met’. Shout at the “villains” and cheer on the “good guys” in these specially written performances. To light your way home - join our special pumpkin- carving workshop – so that you will be protected from ghosts and ghouls.

Adornments & Advents for Xmas & Xmas Craft Fair

Sat 24th November

Come along to the Met’ today and start preparing for the festive season by making an advent calendar and a traditional Christmas decoration to hang on your tree. Our craft demonstrators will ensure that you take something home that will be admired by all your family and Christmas guests!Also, looking for that special gift that’s a little different? – then visit our traditional Craft Fair today and complete your Christmas shopping. Home produce and crafty gifts for sale.

Sing-A-Song of Christmas

Fri 8th December (Evening Performance)

A Carol Concert with a difference – as well as traditional Christmas Carols sung by candlelight, our performers will delight you with tales of Christmas memories from their own lives and different traditions from around the world.

The Sherman Theatre presents The Devoted Friend by Oscar Wilde

What makes a good friend? Little Hans’s best friend is Hugh the Miller but while Hans is happy to share all the lovely flowers and fruit from his garden, Hugh isn’t quite so generous with his own things. Through music, puppetry, play and imagination join three lively characters as they explore the ups and downs of friendship in this new play for the very young.

Allan Holdsworth

Friday 4th December
2007 is the year Allan Holdsworth makes a return to the public eye. Allan Holdsworth is regarded by fans and contemporary musicians as one of the 20th century’s most prominent guitarists and an innovator of merging rock and jazz. An inductee of Guitar Player Magazines Hall of Fame, Holdsworth is a five time winner in the readers poll.
