An arts centre and business hub

The Metropole in Abertillery is a community arts, culture and business centre providing services to the community of Abertillery and surrounding areas. All of our staff are Dementia Friendly Trained and the venue is completely accessible.

Important  Notice 

Following notice from the UK Government , The Met will be closed until 15th April 2020. We are currently in the process of re-arranging all shows and performances due to take place during March, April and May. However, you may not hear from us with the new dates until we return to work, as all client data is kept on our secure office based systems.

Please bear with us during these unprecedented and difficult times and we shall be in touch with you as soon as we are able. 

We are constantly reviewing the situation and will update you on all other future shows and performances in the near future.

A unique blend of the traditional and the ultra modern, The Met (as it is known locally) has stood at the heart of the community of Abertillery for over 100 years. Originally known as the Metropole Theatre and Dance Hall, it has had a significant role in the history of Abertillery since it's construction in 1892, and has always been recognised as a hub in the cultural life of the community.

The Met is recognised as the centre for cultural events, activities and performances in Abertillery, as well as operating as a successful conference and meeting venue.
